What to Consider before Buying a K-Mini

How many cups do you plan on brewing per day?

This coffee machine has a 12-ounce water reservoir, meaning you’ll have to refill it every time you brew a cup of coffee. If you only plan on brewing one or two cups a day, this is probably just fine for your needs.

But if you plan on brewing more than that, consider investing in a machine that can handle multiple cups at once.

Do you want a lot of control over the brew quality of your coffee?

Keurigs are big on convenience but not so great with control. There are no temperature or brew controls to speak of on this little machine, with only a power button and a brew button.

You’re better off with this option if you want your drink ready right away without having to think about it or plan ahead. If you’d rather have more say in how your coffee is brewed, this isn’t the machine for you.

How flexible is your budget?

The Keurig K-Mini is not the cheapest drip coffee machine you can buy, but it is one of the most affordable offerings in Keurig’s lineup. It’s an excellent option if you want convenience and style while keeping your price point low.

You should also consider whether you’re willing to spend the extra cash on single-use K-cup pods, which can quickly add up to more than you originally planned, especially if you’re brewing 1-2 cups every day.

How much space do you have for a coffee machine?

Do you live in a small house, dorm, or apartment with limited counter space? Are you looking for a machine that you can easily tuck away in a cabinet when not in use?

One of the most significant and unique features of the Keurig K-Mini is its narrow curved design with a roughly 5×12 inch footprint.

The Kuerig K-MIni: Overview

If you live alone or don’t drink coffee regularly, you’re likely looking for a machine that will give you what you need (a good cup of coffee) without the added unnecessary features or large footprint most drip machines offer.

The Keurig K-Mini is one of the smallest and most inexpensive models in Keurig’s lineup. It may not be for everyone, but it’s a good option for single coffee drinkers who value simplicity and a streamlined design.

Its effortless one-touch brewing system and streamlined design make this a stylish and compact option for those living alone or in close quarters.

The machine setup is as minimal as it gets, with no added attachments or accessories. The water reservoir and drip tray are detachable for easy cleaning, and it comes in a variety of colors suited to any taste.

At only five inches wide, it will fit in any kitchen, no matter how short on space you may be. For apartment dwellers or single coffee drinkers, you could certainly do much worse.

Features and Benefits

Build Quality

When you’re shopping for your next coffee machine, one major consideration is whether it’s built well and will last you a long time. With the Keurig K-Mini, you don’t have to worry about too many electrical components malfunctioning or glass carafes breaking.

In fact, this is a durable and lightweight machine that can quickly be moved around and handled without worry.

The outer shell is plastic, so it doesn’t feel as premium as some other machines, but the overall quality is actually quite nice if you’re good with that.

I love the rounded, curved design with no sharp features or protruding buttons to trap dirt. The design and shape of this machine are all about simplicity and convenience.

Size/Physical Features

The entire machine measures 12.1″ high × 4.5″ wide × 11.3″ deep. It’s compact enough to fit just about anywhere. I love that it fits on a tiny apartment countertop without hoarding my precious space!

While not the first and most important priority, aesthetics can play a significant role in the products that we buy, and the Keurig K-Mini certainly has a noticeably unique aesthetic.

There is a vast range of colors that you can choose from, which I love. Pick the one that works best with your kitchen scheme and personality! And, who said coffee machines have to be boring?

Brewing Capacity/Water Reservoir

KEURIG K-MINI ONE-CUP RESERVOIR

You can see brewing capacity as a pro or a con, depending on your lifestyle and the demands you place on your coffee machine. If you’re shopping for a machine that will brew your morning cup of joe and aren’t looking for much else, this machine will get the job done.

With its 12-ounce water reservoir, it’s capable of brewing a single cup of coffee at a time, which is great if that’s all you need. If you need to brew more at one time, it could be a bit annoying to keep refilling it every time you need another cup.

One feature I wish was included with this machine is a removable water reservoir for cleaning. Unfortunately, that’s not a thing, but at least it’s easy to reach.

While it sits at the top back of the machine, the Keurig K-Mini is so small that reaching around or moving it to access the reservoir is super easy.

Versatility/K-Cups

Like all other Keurig machines, the Keurig Mini uses K-cup pods. These pods are widely available, and you can find them anywhere coffee is sold.

There’s a wide variety to choose from in any roast level and flavor you can imagine. It can be a lot of fun to explore new flavors and roasts!

But the problem is that K-cups can get expensive, really fast. The price per cup of coffee isn’t quite up there with a Starbucks cappuccino, but it’s not that far behind, either. Not to mention how environmentally unfriendly all those single-use plastic pods can be.

That’s why it’s so great that the  Keurig K-Mini is compatible with reusable K-cup pods, so you can actually fill your pods up with your own freshly ground beans from whatever roaster you like!

This is a big deal since many Keurig machines are only compatible with Keurig-licensed K-cups. I’d recommend this option for anyone looking to protect the environment and their wallet!

Simple and Dependable Operation

KEURIG K-MINI YOUR PERFECT AMOUNT

The Keurig K-Mini is incredibly easy to operate and perfect for beginners or those who want a quick and easy brewing process. You know what you’re going to get every time from this machine, and the operation couldn’t be simpler.

Just add the water to the back of the water reservoir (any amount from 6 to 12 ounces will fit), then open the lid to insert your K-cup pod or reusable pod, close it, and press the big silver button!

Alternatives to the K-Mini

When it comes to compact and easy-to-use drip machines for the casual coffee lover, there’s not much more you can ask of the Keurig K-Mini.

There’s a lot to like, from space-saving and thoughtful design elements to the added versatility and convenience of the K-cup pod brewing system.

It’s a great option for single coffee drinkers and those who want a small and compact machine on a budget. But it might not be the right choice for those who drink many cups a day or those who want more control over their brew.

Some coffee lovers will adore the no-fuss simplicity of the K-Mini, but there is another option for someone willing to pay slightly more for a longer list of features.

The  Keurig K-Mini Plus is like the older sibling of the K-Mini, with a nearly identical design and added features, including a “strong” coffee brewing button, a container for K-cup pods, and a removable, easy-to-clean water reservoir.

There’s also the K-Slim model, which is a bit of an upgrade and an excellent choice if there’s more than one coffee drinker in the house.

Conclusion

The Keurig K-Mini is an excellent alternative to the full-size Keurig machines. It’s small and compact, making it perfect for use in smaller spaces. If you live alone or have limited counter space, this machine may be just what you’re looking for!

We hope this post has been helpful and given you some insight into whether the Keurig K-Mini is the right machine for you! Remember to consider how often you’ll use the machine and your priorities when making your ultimate decision.

Happy Caffeinating!
