Nothing quite warms the heart — and the stomach — like a plate full of Mom’s homemade snickerdoodle cookies. The sweet cinnamon-sugar flavor shows up in every bite, and it’s so delicious, you wish you could have them for every single meal.

Unfortunately, Mom isn’t a machine, and she can’t churn out cookie after cookie every time your cravings strike. Besides, even if she could, eating cookies for breakfast is frowned upon (what a bummer, right?). So, what do you do when you wake up with your mind fixed on snickerdoodles and your mother isn’t around? Why, you enjoy its flavors in your beloved cup of coffee, of course!

A cup of plain coffee is fine, but it never hurts to spice up the contents of your coffee pot, right? Try out this snickerdoodle latte recipe!

Okay, we’ll cut you some slack; maybe you didn’t come from a family of dessert enthusiasts, or your sweet tooth developed later in life…naturally, you wouldn’t know much about the classic holiday cookie. Allow us to introduce you.

These cookies probably originated in Germany, and while there are many variations of the recipe floating around, most versions include a dash of cream of tartar that gives them a slightly acidic taste. The snickerdoodle, which is basically the sugar cookie’s tangier cousin, is then topped with cinnamon and sugar, giving it a spicy sweetness that pairs perfectly with a tall glass of cold milk.

Now, imagine your morning coffee tasting like that…sounds pretty great, right? You don’t even need to run down to a fancy coffee shop to make that happen, either; you can whip up a drink packed with strong coffee flavor and the signature snickerdoodle taste from the comfort of your kitchen.

  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup of half-and-half
  • bowl
  • milk frother

THE PROCESS:

Step 1:

Pour nutmeg, brown sugar, cinnamon, and half-and-half into a bowl, and use a milk frother to mix all the ingredients until the result is smooth and frothy.

Step 2:

Use your at-home brewer to prep eight ounces of coffee. The type of coffee you use, from the roast level to the origin, doesn’t particularly matter, so long as it’s strong and fresh. And if you’re having a day when regular coffee won’t quite cut it and you’re craving something stronger, use rich, dark espresso instead.

Step 3:

Add the coffee and the spiced half and half mixture to a mug or glass, and finish off your snickerdoodle-inspired drink with a sprinkle of cinnamon (or add a cinnamon stick) and sugar.
