Did you know that caramel is one of the most popular flavor add-ins for a cup of coffee? That shouldn’t be surprising to you. The flavor joins the likes of vanilla, mocha, and hazelnut on the menu at pretty much every coffee shop in the world and holds the ability to turn simple specialty drinks like lattes into sweet, flavored goodness.

The caramel latte is one of our favorite coffee drinks to make not only because it’s easy, but also because it beautifully combines the strong coffee flavor we know and love with the sugar needed to satisfy a sweet tooth. And because everyone loves a good, cold coffee drink, ordering the caramel latte over ice is always a good idea.

We’ve got you craving an iced caramel latte now, don’t we? We figured as much. That’s why we’re sharing this recipe for a coffee house copycat latte so you can save a few bucks and brew your favorite coffee treat in the comfort of your own home.

YOU’LL NEED:

  • A glass of ice
  • 1/2 cup of chilled coffee
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of caramel sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of half and half

THE PROCESS:

Step 1:

Since this is an iced drink, it of course helps to start with a tall glass full of ice cubes. Then, you’ll want to pour in your caramel sauce to create a nice, flavorful base for your latte.

Step 2:

Next, it’s time to add the most important part of this coffee drink — the coffee. You can use any roast you prefer, but be sure it’s fresh; grind it right before you brew if you’ve got a coffee grinder on hand.

Make sure to chill it in your refrigerator for a few minutes, too, before you pour the coffee over ice. In case you’re still worried about the ice melting after meeting hot liquid in your glass, you can try using cold brew coffee instead.

Step 3:

After you’ve poured your strong coffee into your glass, use a long spoon to give the mixture a good stir. Then, pour in your extras — your milk of choice, half and half, and creamer — then stir until the drink is well-mixed. And then, you’re ready to enjoy your iced coffee drink; it’s as easy as that!
