Picture this: you’re curled up in a blanket on your couch and you’ve got a piping hot mug of rich and smooth espresso and creamy steamed milk, topped with fluffy whipped cream and a drizzle of sweet caramel syrup in hand. This sounds dreamy, doesn’t it — relaxing with a nice caramel brûlée latte?

There’s just one problem: in an effort to save a few bucks, you promised yourself you would keep your trips to Starbucks to a minimum.

But just because you’ve decided to make your coffee at home doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your beloved latte. In as little as 5 minutes, you’ll be sipping on a copycat drink that’s so good, you’d swear it came from Starbucks.

WHAT’S A CARAMEL BRULEE LATTE, ANYWAY?

This customer-favorite usually holds its spot on Starbucks’s menu from fall until the end of the holiday season, and it’s the coffee shop franchise’s attempt at replicating the rich flavor of real crème brûlée.

And since customers have campaigned for this drink to have a permanent spot on the menu and spent their days working on recipes for an adequate duplicate to sip year-round, it’s fair to say the attempt has been successful. We’re sure you’ll love this latte, too.

YOU’LL NEED:

  • 2 tablespoons of caramel sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of French vanilla syrup
  • 3/4 cup of strong brewed coffee
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • Whipped cream
  • Raw sugar

THE PROCESS:

Step 1:

You’ll need to make 3/4 of a cup of your favorite coffee or 2 shots of high-quality espresso. We, like most coffee fanatics, believe fresher is better, so if you have a coffee grinder on hand, it’s best to grind your own beans right before it’s time for the coffee to be brewed.

Brewed Espresso

Step 2:

Add the caramel sauce to the bottom and sides of a cup or mug, and follow with French vanilla syrup and coffee (or espresso, if you opted for that extra boost of caffeine).

Caramel Syrup

Step 3:

Next, pour in the heavy cream and stir the mixture for 20 seconds or until it’s smooth.

Step 4:

Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of raw sugar to imitate the crunchy sweet top layer of a crème brûlée. If you just can’t get enough caramel, drizzle a bit of caramel sauce over the whipped cream, too — so delicious!
