After receiving this machine, we were incredibly excited to try it out for you! So read on for our thoughts on this unique drip brewer to see if it’s the right one for you.
Beginning with Breville
Believe it or or not, Breville got their start with a sandwich toaster. Widely popular in their home base of Asutrialia, this company has since become well-known for the small home appliances, especially their espresso machines. But don’t let that get you to doubting their other coffee tech.
Breville is known for their incredible customer-brand communication, and as a result, their machines tend to have the consumer’s best interests in mind. And it shows in the details, as you’ll see below.
The Basics: Precision Brewer Thermal
Dimensions and Capacity
The Precision Brewer measures 12.4″ x 6.7″ x 15.7,” meaning it might be a tad on the tall side if your cabinets are low. So, as always, make sure to measure. your space before buying.
As far as brewing capacity, this one can handle put to 60 oz (or 12 cups), which is pretty respectable for a drip brewer.
Power and Voltage
This machine has 1650 watts and110-120 volts of power behind it.
PID Temperature Control
The precision brewer, like many espresso machines, includes a proportional–integral–derivative (PID) digital temperature control included with its thermo-coil heating and pump system. This means that this drip brewer has significantly better adjustability and precision than the typical brewer’s horseshoe shaped system.
As a result, the water temperature can be accurately adjusted between 197–204 degrees, falling within the SCA guidelines. The pump also allows you to select from 3 flow rates to optimize contact time for your specific coffee. Lastly, the stainless steel components ensure the purity and quality of the brew.
All of these elements come together to give you great tasting coffee that’s significantly more adjustable than your typical drip brewer.
Pour Over Adapter
One of features we were the most excited about on this machine is its compatibility with pour overs. You can attach your favorite pour over device, whether it’s the Hario V6 or the Kalita Wave.
Unfortunately, the no pour over attachment is included with the machine. So it might wrack up considerable extra costs if you don’t already have one and want to take advantage of this capability.
Small Cup Detection
As always, we appreciate it when brands pay attention to the details, and Breville didn’t disappoint here. As the name suggests, precision is paramount with this machine.
So, unsurprisingly it includes a feature that controls water and coffee contact time when brewing single serve volumes up to 20 oz or when making Cold Brew.
Another brewing detail designed to improve your coffee experience is Breville’s patent pending Steep & Release valve. This component works by holding the water in contact with your grounds when you select small volumes without the carafe.
The Precision brewer has 6 different brewing options: Gold Cup, Fast, Strong Brew, Ice Coffee, Cold Brew, My Brew. Now, you can enjoy your cup o’ Joe exactly how you like it.
The Gold Cup preset allows the machine to automatically adjust the water temperature and brew time to keep in step with SCA guidelines. The My Brew setting allows you to adjust the bloom time, flow rate, and temperature of your brew. Additionally, it allows you to take advantage of the pour over option.
That customizability means you can adjust this machine to brew whatever coffee you want to perfection. So whether you’re trying to bring out chocolatey or floral notes, or maybe even something fruity, this setting has you covered.
Included with this machine is the thermal carafe, coffee spoon, cone filter basket insert, mesh basket filter, 10 piece flat bottom basket filter paper pack, and a water hardness test strip.
Like all Breville machines, the Precision Brewer comes with a 2 Year Limited Product Warranty and the promise of excellent customer service. So if you do happen to run into any problems, they’ve got you covered.

With stainless steel components and innovative technology, the Precision Brewer gives you a consistently impressive brew every time. And coming in at a less than $300 price point, you can get your caffeine fix on a drip-brewer budget. So you won’t be compromising on taste or your budget.
Whether you’re craving cold brew or pour over coffee, or serving one cup or a whole carafe, this machine will take care of you. With the 6 customizable settings, this multi-use brewer has can whip up your perfect cup.
For some, the level of adjustability sounds like a drip machine dream come true. However, for some, it can be a bit of overwhelming overkill. So if you’re just looking for a bare-bones, get-the-job-done machine, you might want to look elsewhere.
As we mentioned earlier, the dimensions on this machine might prove a bit challenging for smaller spaces. Measuring well over a foot tall, some cabinets might be a little too low to allow for convenient placement of this machine.
Honestly, we’re pretty stoked about this machine. With the incredible adjustability available in the My Brew setting, this machine definitely an exciting addition to the drip brew pool, especially for those of you craving customization. Plus, the pour over option is pretty unique!
On the other hand, if you’re looking for something a bit more basic, the price of this machine might look a bit steep and all the options might be a bit much for your needs. If that’s the case, we suggest checking outcome of the other options here. There are several machines available for under $100.
