Looking for a perfect after dinner treat for your guests? We have you covered….or should I say drowned. Before you freak out, let me explain; we’re talking about Affogato. Maybe not a word you are familiar with but after trying this simple Italian dessert you’ll have it added to your vernacular in no time.
Affogato in Italian means “drowned”. In this case, cool velvety vanilla bean ice cream drowned in freshly brewed espresso. You can wow your dinner guests by providing them with coffee and dessert all in one delicious and easy presentation! So, off you gato…
How To Make It
First, gather up your ingredients. You’ll need your espresso-brewing tool of choice, one very large scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, a dessert glass, and some toppings (if you so choose). You can also use gelato, and if you’re experimenting with toppings, we recommend going for a cookie crumble.
Now that you have everything on hand, pull a double shot of espresso.Once the ice cream is in, it’s time to pour your double shot over it.
You can always get creative by switching up your ice cream or gelato flavor or switching out your toppings, but you should stay true to the freshly brewed espresso!
And voila! You have the perfect after dinner affogato to treat yourself or your guests.
- Double shot freshly brewed espresso
- 1 large scoop of Vanilla bean ice cream or gelato
- Crumble of your favorite cookie (optional)
- Tall dessert glass(es)
- Pull your espresso.
- Scoop your ice cream into your chosen dessert glasses
- Pour your double shot over the ice cream.
- Top it off with your favorite cookie crumble or just enjoy it as is!
You can get creative and switch up your gelato flavor or topping, but always stay true to the freshly brewed espresso!
