When Starbucks added the delicious vanilla sweet cream cold brew to the menu in 2016, frequent customers of the coffee shop franchise rejoiced, as the sweet and refreshing cold brew drink was exactly the break from hot coffee they needed to make it through the sweltering summer months.

The only problem is, the price of making daily coffee runs begins to add up, and before you know it, your coffee budget is drained. But that doesn’t mean you have to give up drinking the sweet coffee and cream mixture entirely; just save a few bucks — and up your coffee game — by making it yourself!

COPYCAT STARBUCKS VANILLA SWEET CREAM COLD BREW COFFEE RECIPE

Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew Recipe

YOU’LL NEED:

  • 8 ounces of cold brew coffee
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla syrup
  • Ice

THE PROCESS:

Step 1:

Cream and Syrup

Begin the copycat recipe by pouring the heavy cream and vanilla syrup into a small bowl and stir until the two are well-mixed. Set that aside for now, but don’t let it get too far; you’re going to need it later.

Step 2:

Cold Brew

Next, pour the cold coffee into a tall glass. You can pour from the pitcher of cold brew you made yesterday or the bottle of a pre-made version you found at the grocery store, whichever you prefer.

But note that when it comes to joe, fresher is always better, and for that reason, we recommend using a coffee concentrate you brewed yourself. Add a spoonful of sugar and stir until it’s dissolved, then carefully drop a few ice cubes into the glass, too.

Step 3:

Cream in Coffee

Let’s come back to the sweet cream you made earlier. Stir it into the glass with ice and cold brew coffee and stir until the coffee mixture is smooth. Now, the only thing left to do with your vanilla sweet cream cold brew is to enjoy every sip of it!

HOW TO MAKE COLD BREW CONCENTRATE AT HOME

Here at Roasty, we are big advocates of brewing your own java instead of using something store-bought. You can purchase a cold brew coffee maker of your own, but if you don’t want to shell out the extra bucks for another brewer, rest assured you don’t actually need special equipment to make this cold coffee drink.

We’ve got a full guide to making cold brew here, but in case you don’t feel like reading, here’s the short version:

Step 1:

Pour room temperature water (steer clear of tap water here…filtered is the only way to go!) and ground coffee into a lidded container and stir, making sure the grounds are evenly distributed. Use freshly ground coffee beans for the freshest and strongest results.

Step 2:

Store the covered container in your refrigerator for 12 to 24 hours to steep.

Step 3:

Strain the coffee through cheesecloth or some other mesh-lined cloth to remove the coffee grounds from the brew. You may have to do this step more than once, but it’s worth it; nothing is a bigger mood-killer when enjoying a cup of coffee than having coffee grounds show up in every sip.

Now, you’ve got a batch of coffee that’s perfect for use in your vanilla sweet cream cold brew! And whatever you don’t use can stay in your refrigerator for an entire week.

SIP AWAY!

Enjoy the Starbucks-style sweet cream cold brew coffee at any time of the day, whether you’re a coffee lover who needs a delicious morning pick-me-up or one who just wants a cup of coffee strong enough to push you past your mid-day slump. No matter what time of day you drink it, the sweet drink’s perfect vanilla flavor is sure to hit the spot every time.

Happy Caffeinating!
