Boca Java Subscription Review: Specialty Flavored Coffees

Jason works as the company’s president while Douglass takes part as the roastmaster. Boca Java is now one of the leading online specialty coffee retailers that provide customers with freshly roasted gourmet coffee, tea, and cocoa.

With the belief that a good cup of coffee can change the world, Boca Java uses specialty grade 100% Arabica coffees that are both ethically sourced and socially responsible. They also have a program called Coffees for a Cause, which allows them to give back to charities and raise awareness through purchases made under the program.

Boca Java Subscription Review

In the subscription box that I received from Boca Java, there were two 8-ounce bags of coffee included: the Medium Roast Boca Sunrise whole bean coffee and the Specialty Flavor Surfing Safari whole bean coffee.

Boca Sunrise

The non-flavored coffee option that I got was the Boca Java Boca Sunrise, which is their medium roast. This is an artisan roasted coffee blend that’s washed processed, grown at an altitude of 1,600-2,000 meters, and comes from Africa, South America, and Central America.

It’s full-bodied, bright, subtly sweet, and complex with tasting notes of citrus fruit and honey. The bag notes that there’s a sparkling acidity and clean finish to this coffee.

Upon my own brewing, I noticed that the aroma was slightly sweet and layered with acidic fruit notes. The taste was mellow with a slight citrus acidity that gave it a clean and delicious finish. It was a good and simple cup of coffee, perfect for any morning.

Surfing Safari

The Surfing Safari coffee was my other bag of coffee, which is one of Boca Java’s specialty flavor artisan roasted coffees. Its processing is a blend of wet and dry, it’s grown at an altitude of 1,400-1,600 meters, and it comes from the regions of Jinotega, Nicaragua and Cerrado, Brazil.

This coffee was inspired by tropical flavors and is said to be full-bodied and complex. The flavors added to this coffee include sweet vanilla, creamy caramel, and rich coffee liqueur.

Before I got to brewing, I noticed that the bag of the bag said to squeeze and smell through the valve at the top, which released a delicious aroma of sweet, caramel coffee.

The overall aroma was decadently sweet with a strong smell of the added flavors of vanilla, caramel, and coffee liqueur. It was very interesting and, since it’s a flavored coffee, it almost smelt like a dessert!

This was a very bold cup of coffee with intricate flavors layered throughout thanks to the specialty flavor add-ins of sweet caramel coffee liqueur. It’s tasty but strong enough to wake the senses!

Boca Java: Subscription Options

There are two different subscription options that Boca Java offers: the Gourmet Coffee Club and the Coffee of the Month Club. Under either option, coffees can be sent as whole beans or ground for one universal grind.

Boca Java: Roasting

Boca Java only uses specialty grade 100% Arabica coffees that are ethically sourced, socially responsible, and handcrafted. They have a micro-roasting technique that freshly roasts small batches of some of the world’s best coffee beans.

This is done in their roasting facility, where Boca Java hand-roasts all of the batches, with Douglass Barrow as roastmaster. By roasting in small batches, they can control the process temperature and humidity.

At the time of writing, most of Boca Java’s coffee options are priced at about $8.99 per bag. For a Gourmet Coffee Club subscription, you can either get 2, 3, or 4 bags per shipment.

How to Cancel Boca Java
