What Is Dalgona Coffee?

Unlike any coffee house drink you’ve had before, Dalgona Coffee originates from South Korea. Its name originates from a Korean toffee candy that shares the same name as well as the same ingredients. In the United States, Dalgona Coffee has exponentially spiked in popularity across the country for many understandable reasons. Not only is it tasty to drink, but it’s also fun to make and fun to drink!

What You’ll Need

Though whipped coffee may look intimidating to make, it’s actually very simple. In fact, the recipe only calls for 4 ingredients: milk, sugar, instant coffee, and water. Although it may seem bizarre to use instant coffee, it actually works perfectly for this drink, and it stands up to its fancy espresso-based competitors. For this recipe, you’ll need the following:

Dalgona Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon instant coffee
  • 1 tablespoon hot water
  • 1 tablespoon white granulated sugar
  • ½ cup milk of your choosing.

Our rating:

Tastes like a fresh brew, fast like instant. No wait, no lines, no machines – pure coffee – no additives at all!

Tip: You can serve this drink both hot and over ice. If you prefer it warm, all you need to do is warm your milk up a little either in the microwave or on the stove.

How To Make Whipped Coffee

Ready to make this savory drink in the coffee of your own home? Then pull up your pajama sleeves and get ready to whip it…whip it real good. Gather up your ingredients, a mixing bowl, and a mixer, and let’s get started!

Place the first 3 ingredients (instant coffee, hot water, and granulated sugar) in the mixing bowl.

Three Ingredients Mixture

Begin to beat the ingredients with a mixer for about 1-2 minutes. If you don’t have a mixer, you can do it manually with a whisk, though it may take a few minutes longer.

Stiff Peaks

Make sure the mixture is firm enough to form small peaks, like above.

Pour your milk over ice and then dollop on your lovely coffee froth.

Enjoy! You can add some flair to your whipped coffee by adding syrup, flavored creamer, etc.
