Everyone finds joy in making a cup of coffee, whether you enjoy a cup every so often, or if you will go so far as to get a membership at an exclusive coffee club. There are many methods to use when making coffee. A super simple method to make coffee is by using a french press. Alternatively, a much more complicated method, is using a vacuum syphon. Either way, all will be explained in this guide, as well as tips on how to level up your coffee crafting skills, and bring that experience to at home. It is time to have a coffee! Go on!
1. Mastering the Classic French Press

If you want to brew coffee that is full of flavor, the French press is one of the best methods to start with. Not only is it simple, but it uses immersion brewing, meaning the coffee grounds will brew with hot water until you press the mesh plunger. Other methods of coffee brewing leave all the natural oils and fine particles of coffee in the filter, but with a French press, you get to leave them in. With no other method will you get the full body taste and texture that a French press will provide. It won’t require any fancy equipment and no long, complicated processes, so it is great for people looking to get complex flavors without overly daunting methods. The only things you will need to do are to get some coffee beans, coarse grind them, pour some hot water over them, and wait a couple of minutes. In no time, you will have a nice cup of coffee that is perfect for you to enjoy by yourself, or share with friends.

2. Brewing with a Pour-Over Dripper

It is no wonder that pour-over coffee is a favorite among coffee enthusiasts. The pour-over technique allows brewers to control several different variables to create their perfect cup of coffee. The variables that can be controlled include water temperature, how coffee is ground, and even how fast coffee is poured. The first step is to place a paper filter into the dripper and pour some hot water over it to get rid of the paper taste. Then pour in the coffee grounds and start to pour the hot water over the coffee grounds in a circular pattern to ensure that all of the coffee is saturated. The wait can be enjoyable; it gives time to anticipate that first sip, and taking it step by step makes it feel more personal. It is a great way to spend time on the weekends to travel.
3. Espresso Basics with a Stovetop Moka Pot

Making espresso-type coffee at home is easy with a moka pot. Moka pots are beautifully designed with eight sides, and have a really interesting brewing process! With moka pots, you start by boiling water, which is then forced through a coffee filter, and into a top chamber. To start using your moka pot, fill the bottom of the pot with water, being careful to not go higher than the pressure valve. Then, fill the filter basket with ground coffee. Make sure that you level the filter basket, but do not pack it down. When you close the moka pot, place it on a stove on medium heat, and wait. When the water hits boiling point, pressure will force the water through the coffee and collect it in the upper chamber. With moka pots, you can experience the rich flavor of espresso, without breaking the bank! Usually making small amounts of espresso takes a good amount of time, but it is also great for making lattes, and cappuccinos!
4. Cold Brew Made Simple at Home

Cold brew coffee is an excellent choice for a refreshing caffeinated beverage. Unlike other methods of brewing coffee, cold brew creates a naturally sweeter taste and avoids any bitterness. This is possible due to the long steeping time of coarsely ground coffee. By placing this coffee in cold water. The coffee is steeped for 12-24 hours, allowing for a collection of the coffee’s unique flavors while avoiding any acids present in the coffee, creating a less acidic brew. All you need to do is mix your desired amount of coffee to a large jar or container of cold, filtered water and place it in the refrigerator to steep for a day. Once it is done steeping, strain out the coffee grounds and you now have delicious coffee concentrate. It can be combined with ice and milk or water to make it even more delicious. This process creates a great solution to make the perfect iced coffee drinks with a smooth and rich taste.
5. Using a Chemex for Smooth Coffee

Chemex method of brewing coffee is an approach to not only create a tasty cup but also celebrate the art of coffee brewing. This historic coffee maker’s design is a part of the coffee maker’s art, and its specialty filters make a huge difference in the brew. Start by folding the specialty filter in half, and place the filter in the carafe with the spout facing you. Once you rinse the filter so that the papery taste is gone, you can add the ground coffee to the filter, which should be ground so that it has a medium-coarse consistency. Then slowly pour hot water in a spiral motion over the ground coffee so that it allows the coffee to bloom. Remember to go steady while pouring the water, and don’t forget to enjoy the aroma while it drips through. Then you will have a refined coffee experience that is ideal for the coffee beans that you prefer. It’s perfect for a clean and refined coffee experience at home.
6. Trying Traditional Turkish Coffee

As part of a commitment to support small businesses and promote cultural awareness through coffee, we invite you to experience first-hand the brewing of traditional Turkish coffee. Learning this ancient practice begins with the purchase of a cezve. This is a small pot (generally made of brass or copper) designed specifically for the brewing of Turkish coffee, and it is important to note that there are a variety of cezve’s and personal preferences vary widely. All that is needed now is to gather the ingredients. You will need to have some finely ground coffee (instant coffee will not work), sugar (optional, and traditionally not added for health reasons), and water (room temperature or cold water work best). Combine the three ingredients (coffee, sugar, and water) in the cezve and stir gently to ensure a good mixture (do not over stir). Place the mixture over a low flame and watch carefully as the mixture begins to froth (we do not want a boil to occur) and remove the pot from the flame for a moment to let it froth again (repeat this step twice for best results). The final product will be a very thick, rich, and aromatic Turkish coffee. Turkish coffee is prepared in a relaxed atmosphere, and accompanied by friends and some Turkish delight (or just a treat). Enjoy!
7. Simplifying with a Single-Serve Pod Machine

On those busy mornings, single-serve pod machines are the best option when it comes to having a consistent cup of coffee. These machines are made for your own good, giving you a solution that is easy. Simply put a pod into the machine and hit the button. There’s no more bean grinding, measuring, or cleaning up to do. Single-serve machines have different blends and flavors so that you can always have something new. These machines are great for those who want a simple option. These machines are also great for espresso and brewed coffee options!
8. Grinding Your Own Beans for Freshness

A great way to enhance your coffee experience is by getting your own coffee grinder. Buying whole beans and grinding them releases oils that significantly improve the smell and taste of the coffee. You will need to buy a coffee grinder; blade and burr are the two most common types. Blade grinders are cheaper and chop (but don’t necessarily grind) the coffee beans, making them suitable for beginners. Burr grinders, on the other hand, tend to make beans into a more uniform grind (on the same level). This is great for making sure that you have the same size coffee particles so all the flavors get released regardless of how you make your coffee. Overall, if you start grinding your own beans, your coffee will definitely taste better!\
9. Frothing Milk for Homemade Lattes

For café level coffee, learn how to froth. It is easy to create a professional finish to your drinks by frothing. Milk should be heated to around 150°F (65°C). It should be warm, but not boiling. There are several ways to froth milk: frothing wand, handheld frother, or even a French press. The trick is to keep the tip just below the surface to avoid large bubbles while creating a creamy texture. Once milk is frothed, pour over coffee and control the flow to create a layered look and even do some simple latte art. It’s that easy to turn simple coffee into an indulgence. Treat yourself or impress your friends.
