Purity Coffee is the brainchild of Andrew Salisbury, who developed the company out of his attempt to research the possible pros/cons of consuming coffee after his wife Amber’s health began to decline. Amber had begun to experience serious disabling fatigue, and in order to help energize herself, she began drinking as much as six cups of coffee every day! Wondering how her coffee obsession was impacting her health, Andrew set out to explore the possible harm and benefits of drinking coffee. He was in for a discovery.
Andrew and Amber began communicating with experts from the Vanderbilt University Institute of Coffee Studies. The couple quickly discovered that in fact, coffee has an overwhelming amount of health benefits. As a result, they created Purity Coffee. This company is passionate not only about coffee but primarily about the health benefits that coffee possesses. The main goal behind Purity Coffee is to educate consumers on the health benefits of coffee.

Though we received only a portion of the products that Purity Coffee offers, it’s important to note the other products that this company offers as well.
Coffee Roasts
All of Purity Coffee’s roasts and signature blends are freshly roasted, specialty grade organic coffee. Purity focuses on cultivating the healthiest quality coffee as possible, and all of the roasts are packed with nutrients and antioxidants. They also offer bags of whole bean coffee 12oz bags or 5lb bags, depending on how much coffee you consume.
Purity Coffee offers medium, dark, decaf, and a custom roast called the Founders’ Blend for you to enjoy! We got the chance to review the medium and dark roasts, but we’ll get to our review of those later. The two blends that we, unfortunately, weren’t able to test were the decaf and the Founders’ Blend.
Decaf Roast
Need to relax a little? You can sip on a savory cup of Purity Coffee and receive all of the health benefits without the spike of caffeine. Decaf Purity Coffee is 99.9% caffeine-free, yet still maintains the taste and all of the health benefits. They process their coffee through the Swiss Water process, primarily because it helps to ensure the overall quality of the coffee itself.
Founders’ Blend
This is their limited signature blend which places more of an emphasis on flavor notes. If you’re looking for something delicious to drink and healthy, then the Founders’ Blend is for you. It still carries the same high standard for antioxidants and purity, but with a bit more attention placed on the blend and roasting curve.
Coffee Pods
Are you a Keurig brewer? No problem! Purity Coffee provides its coffee in pod form to create a more efficient method of brewing. These coffee pods are compatible with Keurigs, Mr. Coffee pod machines, and Hamilton Beach pod machines.
All of the pods are certified organic, gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy-free, as well as pesticide, mycotoxin, and mold-free. Also, all of Purity Coffee’s pods are packaged in sustainable BPA-free recyclable material. They also offer decaf coffee pods, allowing for not only an efficient method of brewing but a caffeine-free option too.

Purity Coffee offers a prepaid coffee subscription service to provide you with up to 6 or 12 months of Purity Coffee per subscription. When you sign up for a 6-month option, you can also receive one free additional shipment, as well as 2 free additional shipments when you prepay for a yearly subscription! In our book, these options are almost too good to pass up.
Each subscription comes with a 12oz bag of coffee with a roast of your choosing. Each bag can produce approximately 25-30 8 ounce cups of coffee. You can choose anywhere from 1-4 12 ounce bags a month, or the largest amount which is a 5lb bag a month. You can also choose the option to have a coffee pod subscription instead of a whole bean subscription!

We got the opportunity to review one of the most popular products offered by Purity Coffee: The Starter Pack. In our starter pack we received:

If wanting to give Purity Coffee a try but you also want a decent supply of coffee as well, then the Purity Coffee Starter Pack may be exactly what you’re looking for. We enjoyed this pack because it allowed us to try almost all of the most popular products that the company offers.
The Grinder
Though the grinder in the starter kit we received doesn’t have incremental settings of grind sizes, you can manually adjust the grind size by turning the adjustment wheel either clockwise for finer grinds, or anticlockwise for coarser grinds. This can be tricky though since you have to turn the knob and eyeball it to get the right grind setting for your brewing method.
The great news is that the grinder can be assembled in a matter of seconds. It consists of only a few parts, and the grinder mostly assembled with the grinding handle detached. There’s a screw located on the top of the grinder so that all you have to do is put the screw through the hole located on the handle, and voila!
One minor downside to the grinder is that it’s a manual grinding method and as you’re holding the grinder, there is some heat and friction generated by the grinder itself. It doesn’t impact the quality of the coffee too much, but it is something to take note of.
Medium Roast Bag
The medium roast is well balanced in flavor and acidity. It encompasses a slight citrus flavor, with a few notes of sweeter, smokey chocolate. The texture is smooth, and the coffee itself is well-bodied. It tastes delicious on its own as a black coffee, but can still pair well with a little milk or creamer.
Dark Roast
The first thing we noticed right after opening the bag of dark roast beans is the layer of oil on them. The coffee is rich in flavor, with heavy notes of nuttiness, sweet chocolate, and earthy tones. Low in caffeine content, the dark roast is smooth, robust, and definitely will help you wake up in the morning.
Coffee Sachet
We enjoyed the sachets because they’re compact, yet packed to the brim with coffee. These are perfect to take with you on the road or your next camping adventure. In addition to the sachets, Purity Coffee also sends you a small, simple paper with a few quick directions on how to brew them.
As you steep, one of the first things that you’ll notice is the smokey, earthy aroma. It has an earthy, nutty taste and is full-bodied with a low amount of acidity. It goes down smoothly with every sip, and it’s great for those who have sensitive stomachs.

Also, the coffee is certified organic specialty grade coffee, which is a pretty noteworthy characteristic. This fact is impressive because this standard is met by less than 1% of all coffee produced worldwide.
Instead of just guesstimating with their coffee, Purity Coffee takes the health of their coffee seriously by lab-testing each batch before shipping it to consumers. They test for things like mold, mycotoxins, and bean defects, all while making sure that each batch has a high amount of antioxidants. Through their continuous testing, Purity Coffee has discovered that their coffee was found to be 65% higher in antioxidants on average than other big leading coffee brands.
Environmentally Friendly
Purity Coffee goes above and beyond to protect the environment and farmland where the beans are cultivated. They are conscious about not overbuying their coffee, that way they can prevent unused beans from going stale and going to waste.

The Nays
Alas, not everything can be perfect. The great thing though is that there are always ways to improve and make a product better. We’re super impressed with the research and quality that Purity Coffee brings to the table, but there are always ways to improve.
No Exquisite Flavor
One thing that we noticed about Purity Coffee is that even though this coffee has many health benefits, there isn’t much room for authentic, unique flavor profiles. Even looking on the company’s website, the descriptions of each roast only gives an idea of the kind of roast that the coffee is (medium, dark, decaf, etc), and doesn’t elaborate on the notes of flavor in the coffee itself.
As a result, there’s no specific description of the flavors that separate each roast from each other. Instead of tasting the coffee and pinpointing certain notes of flavor highlighted in each roast, all you have to do is sip each roast to realize that the coffee itself just tastes “good” and that’s just about it.
Though we agree that the health benefits to Purity Coffee are there, any vibrant or robust flavors can be difficult to taste. However, if you’re primarily concerned with boosting up your overall quality of health, then this shouldn’t be too much of a deal-breaker.
Only Whole Beans
If you’re wanting to purchase some Purity Coffee, then you’ll need a grinder of some sort to brew your beans. We always suggest buying whole bean coffee and grinding it right before brewing because this is the best way to ensure the overall freshness of your coffee. However, this may be difficult for those who may not have access to a grinder.
