Creamy Oreo Latte Recipe: A Unique Coffee Break Drink

Just so you know, if you click on a product on RoastyCoffee.com and decide to buy it, we may earn a small commission.

You already know the classic Oreo is milk’s favorite cookie. But did you know it’s joe’s favorite cookie, too? You can do more with the creme-filled cookies than dunk them in dairy; as it turns out, they’re a fabulous addition to many creative coffee drinks, including the Oreo latte.

The concept of cookies and cream isn’t a new one — you’ve probably enjoyed a serving of vanilla ice cream with Oreo cookie crumbs mixed into it a time or two — so it makes sense that the dynamic duo would carry over to cups of coffee, too. Besides, we already know chocolate and coffee flavors are a match made in heaven (see: mocha latte), and the concept of this drink is almost the same.

Don’t believe us? That’s OK. Round up a few simple ingredients, give yourself a few minutes of prep time, and you’ll see what we mean.

You’ll Need:

  • Oreo sandwich cookies or Oreo cookie crumbs
  • Cold brew coffee
  • Milk or creamer of choice
  • Ice cubes
  • Two glasses
  • Handheld milk frother

The Process:

Step 1:

This coffee recipe’s first step is to prep your cookies. Grab a few Oreos and crush them. What you use to break down your cookie pieces is up to you. If you have a food processor or blender, now is the appliance’s time to shine. If not, seal the cookies in a Ziploc bag, and go to town with a hammer or rolling pin until it’s filled with crumbs.

Step 2:

Move the Oreo cookie crumble to a glass or mason jar, then pour milk, creamer, or cream* over it. We used Chobani’s oat milk creamer, but you can use whatever you’d like. Use the handheld frother to combine the cookies and cream mixture, and once it’s smooth, set it aside.

Step 3:

Fill a separate glass with ice, then pour in the cold brew (or regular iced coffee, if you want a lower caffeine beverage) and a bit of the milk, creamer, or cream you used earlier. Don’t overfill the cup; you have to leave enough room for the layer of cookie goodness you’re about to pour over it. If you choose to use cold brew, make sure to brew the coffee in advance; it has to steep for 12 to 24 hours, so you’ll need to make it the night before.

Step 4:

Finally, you’re ready for the main event: topping the cup of coffee with frothy cookie-spiked creamer. Pour carefully here; you don’t want to lose even a drop of this stuff.

Step 5:

If you’re feeling festive, add a dollop of whipped cream for topping. Otherwise, enjoy!

*The milk, creamer, or cream you use ultimately affects the thickness of the beverage. If you like your coffee thicker, almost like a coffee milkshake, use heavy cream, but if you want to slurp something thin, use regular milk. Creamer and light cream land between milk and heavy cream, as they’re much thicker than milk but not at the same level as the latter. Ultimately, any of these bases will blend into the Oreo coffee treat beautifully, so you’re free to pick whatever best suits your preferences.

Can you make a hot drink with our cookies and cream latte recipe?

Yes, it does! Though our recipe outlines the steps for making this drink over ice, turning the Oreo coffee into a hot drink worthy of sipping on a chilly afternoon is easy. Ditch the ice cubes and cold brew and use freshly brewed hot coffee instead.
